What can we as a society be doing better to address climate change?

There is a lot of work needed to help incentivize sustainable practices by corporations. (i.e. carbon tax)

What excites you the most about your area of expertise?

I’m excited to see the accelerating adoption of electric vehicles.

What area of technological development outside of your own is most exciting to you?

I’m really excited about new control algorithms for smart grid management. Especially as more renewables and home storage solutions are incorporated.

Encourage citizens to be more conscious of the impact of their activities on the environment and support clean tech development

Working with passionate people on solving challenging problems

Water desalination

What can we as a society be doing better to address climate change?

Individual action is great, but we need systemic change. Inform yourself on the science and vote appropriately.

What excites you the most about your area of expertise?

Many things! It’s important, it’s fun, and the numerical methods I use are adaptable for use in studying past/current/future Earth and other planets in the universe.

What area of technological development outside of your own is most exciting to you?

I’m on an appliance kick of late, so let’s go with heat pumps and induction cook tops. Both have climate mitigation potential and are beneficial for air quality.
